DESTINY RULED TM
CHAPTER 1
(The night sky is clear and bright. A full moon fills it with an other-worldly glow. The stars are packed densely together in a collage of patterns and textures. The sky itself is a tapestry of blues, blacks and whites. Far down below sitting atop a large bolder just outside the jungle town of SeBia, sits a young women who comes to this very spot every night, and gazes to the heavens above. Her long brown dreadlocked hair move ever so slightly with every random breeze, while her big reddish brown eyes look up eagerly, as if awaiting the appearance of a descending angel.)
KYA: So beautiful.
BOMATSU: (Comes a voice from behind) Yo Kya.
(Kya turns to see her friend BoMatsu, standing below at the base of the bolder. BoMatsu is a 23-year old man, with long jet-black dreadlocked hair that goes past his waist. He is tall and of moderate build, with a red and black tattoo around his right eye of a character from an ancient language (Japanese symbol for warrior).
BOMATSU: I figured I'd find you here.
KYA: (Replied cheerfully) Of course, I'm here every night.
BOMATSU: True enough. Just the same though, we should probably be heading back now.
KYA: What's the rush? My coming out here has never been an issue before.
BOMATSU: Right again, but gramps is concerned about the recent Hound activity in the area.
(Gramps was BoMatsu's grandfather, who had raised him since he was eight after his parents were killed in a vicious battle with Hounds during one of their raids years ago. Kya's father died before she was born, and her mother several years after in a fight with the Hounds, and was taken in by Gramps, who was at the time, and still is to this day the elder of SeBia. The Hounds themselves were deadly shape shifting warriors who ruled the desert lands just beyond the jungle. It is said that long ago people lived across the globe, but were pushed into small societies to escape when the Hounds first appeared. No one knows where it is they truly came from, but many legends say that they came from Utopia. A huge city beyond the desert where the power elite were once said to have ruled over the planet.)
KYA: Do you really think they would come this far? I mean they haven't come here in almost two decades.
BOMATSU: (Said sheepishly) Man you're on a role with being right tonight. But it doesn't hurt to play it safe. Know what I mean?
KYA: (She said as she stood up) Oh I do, but I've got to tell you, I wouldn't mind getting a crack at the Hounds myself.
(She seemed to glow in the pale moonlight. Her beauty was no mystery to anyone within miles of SeBia. Long, thin dark brown dreadlocks, a large perky bust contained in a jagged torn tube top , a thin waist line, which ended in curvy hips, and curvaceous back side that filled her tiny torn up shorts nicely, long elegant, yet muscular legs that seemed to never end, but finally did in a pair of old brown boots with metal spiky tips. Her skin was a mocha cream color that was smooth to the touch, not that many men dared to do so, for despite her sweet, and maternal nature, she was one of the most powerful warriors to ever come out of SeBia, and the jungle in general. At age 20, she was already considered a full-fledged adult amongst her people and a leader as well. Along with BoMatsu and several others, they were the only hope for the future their people had.)
BOMATSU: (Said with a sarcastic grin on his face) Careful what you wish for beautiful. Not too many people who have gone up against a Hound have walked away from the fight to tell the tale. You and I both know this all to well.
(Kya looked down at BoMatsu then back to the sky. She could remember hearing that scream, the scream that had haunted her memories, and turned many a night's dream into a nightmare. It was the scream of her mother. The one she let out as they killed her. The Hounds, the monsters that plagued her people's lives for as long as they could remember, and ripped her mother out of hers. Now the only clear memory she had of her was the scream. Kya gave one final glance up to the night sky, exhaled loudly then jumped down off the boulder effortlessly.)
BOMATSU: (Said as he put his arm around her) Let's go kiddo.
(They walked back into the jungle, to SeBia. The walk itself was a quiet one. Both of them seemed to be strangely lost in thought.)
KYA: It seems like I'm always lost in thought these days. I feel my restlessness growing but I can't seem to do anything about it. Something needs to change but I don't know how to bring on that kind of change. Always hiding, always fighting. Living underfoot of those who kill and enslave us. Furthermore I'm at that age now.
BOMATSU: (Said with a sly grin on his face) You're thinking about it again aren't you.
KYA: (She replied with a dew-eyed look) What are you talking about?
BOMATSU: (Replied with a grin) Don't play dumb with me beautiful. You can't keep secrets from me remember?
KYA: (She replied quietly) Right you are.
BOMATSU: Love is not something that comes easily for any of us during these times. We have to seek it out.
KYA: You know I can't do that BoMatsu. I have far too many responsibilities to be selfish enough to look for something like love.
(Kya and BoMatsu stepped over large roots sticking out of the ground and low lying trees and ferns. The moon shined down through the canopy)
BOMATSU: If you're talking about the orphans, and I know you are, they have plenty of other people to look after them. After all, the whole town has a hand in the orphanage.
KYA: (She said with a saddened expression) Yes, but for most of them, I'm the closest thing to a mother they've ever had. I could never just turn my back on them like that.
BOMATSU: No one is saying you should. All I'm saying is that it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if you took a little time for yourself. Actually stop to be a young woman, which entails doing all the things young women do.
KYA: (She responded with a sly look in her eye) Such as?
BOMATSU: (He said proudly) Chase down young men and rip their clothes off so as to engage in pleasures of the flesh.
(Kya let's out a loud girlish squeak in surprise/embarrassment)
KYA: (She said with reddened cheeks) BoMatsu...I could never...I mean...I'm simply not that kind of person.
BOMATSU: (He asked with a grin on his face) Oh, and what kind of person would that be beautiful?
KYA: Well...you know.
BOMATSU: (Leaned in closely) Clearly I don't. Why don't you explain it to me in all the graphically inappropriate details.
KYA: BoMatsu! I'm not some slut, that jumps from one man's bed to another, just to indulge myself in that way!"
BOMATSU: (With a laugh) Wow, somewhere a prepubescent boy just dropped dead.
(Kya punched him in the arm)
BOMATSU: Oww!
KYA: (While refusing to look at him) That's what you get for being vulgar like that with me. Honestly, we are practically siblings! Do you really want to give advice about sex to your little sister?
(BoMatsu sighs, and stopped walking, took a look up at the moon shining through the canopy)
BOMATSU: (Said in a more serious tone) All jokes aside, I worry about you sometimes beautiful.
KYA: Worry? Why ever for?
(BoMatsu looked back down at Kya)
BOMATSU: (He said somberly) I worry about you because I see you putting so much responsibility on your shoulders that you loose yourself beneath it all.
KYA: (She responded softly) Someone has to do it BoMatsu.
BOMATSU: (He Shouted) But is doesn't always have to be just you! I mean what the hell Kya?! Why won't you realize that you are not the only one who sees and feels the hardships of the times?! Do you honestly think that if you took one day off, that there would be no one to do what it is you do. Do you think all the orphans in the orphanage would go without food or care for that whole day!?
(Kya stood in silence, head slightly down with her eyes unblinking. BoMatsu walked over to her and puts his arms around her.)
BOMATSU: (He said in a hushed tone) I'm sorry beautiful. I didn't mean to yell at you like that
(Kya looked up with a slight smile)
KYA: No, you are right to be angry. I know you are just looking out for me, and that I do put a lot of stress on myself, but you must understand that no matter how tough things get it is up to us to secure the future for our people. Most of our parents are gone, and the few elders that we have left will not be with us forever. We need to start taking responsibility for our destiny.
BOMATSU: (He said sarcastically) And what destiny would that be oh wise one?
KYA: To claim the future as our own, to storm the walls of Utopia, and bury the Hounds beneath our might, so our children will know a life with no boundaries, no limits.
BOMATSU: (Said with a burst of enthusiasm) Exactly! We need to make children, which brings me back to my original point. You need to get laid.
(Kya punched him again in the shoulder before they walked off laughing. They walked the rest of the way through the jungle to the town of SeBia. Dwellings and establishments were built in and around the trees, as well as the boulders in and around the area. There is much activity all around.)
BOMATSU: (He gestured to the saloon off to the left.) You up for a drink beautiful?
KYA: Na, I think I'm going to turn in for the night. I'm feeling a little tired.
BOMATSU: Well, I suppose I'll see you in the morning then.
(BoMatsu gave her a hug then walked off in the direction of the Saloon. Kya and BoMatsu use to live in the same tree, before she moved in above the orphanage with her little sister at the northern most tip of town. Below it in the root system was the orphanage. Kya moved in above so she could be close to the children)
KYA: [Thought to herself] I never realized that BoMatsu was so concerned. He's usually so relaxed and calm about everything. Come to think of it, I can't recall a time when he reacted the way he did back there.
(Kya reached the large tree that was both her home and the orphanage. She looked up at the large old tree. Right above the front entrance was a plack that said DESTINY RULED. Kya did not know what the saying meant, but had heard it used many times by all the elders when she was young. Now, only Gramps spoke those words. When asked what it meant, he would always say that it could not be explained, but rather the meaning of the words had to be discovered by the individual seeking their meaning. Kya had long since stopped trying to discover this truth. For much of her teenage life, had been spent living as an adult. She had always had a natural connection with children, which seemed to transcend her age. Furthermore the children of SeBia always seemed to want to be around her. Many of the town's people mused that her physical beauty had all the young boys in love with her, and the admiration of all the young girls. In the end, to all the orphaned children of SeBia, she was their mother. The one who would tuck them in at night, read to them, sing to them, take care of them when they were sick, and be there to hold them in her arms when ever they wanted to cry. Kya walked through the front door)
LENAIA: (In a shrill voice) Give that back you little brat!
(Kya saw her little sister LeNaia chasing one of the little orphan boys named MayDose)
LENAIA: (She screamed) I said give that back!
KYA: What's going on here?
LENAIA: MayDose snatched the medicine I was giving him for his flu and won't give it back!
KYA: (Said in a disapproving tone) MayDose.
MAYDOSE: That stuff tastes like a Hound's ass.
(Kya let out a small chuckle at the comment from the 10 year old boy, but quickly regained her composure)
KYA: (She said in a soft yet strict tone) Now MayDose. You know better then to use language like that, as well as do something like steal the medicine.
MAYDOSE: But I swear that stuff just makes me feel worse!
LENAIA: That doesn't matter you twerp! If you're sick you have to get better or you risk getting everyone else sick.
(MayDose looked down. Kya knelt down, and cradled the boy's head gently in her hands)
KYA: Also, if you get rid of the medicine, you may be hurting someone who really needs it. You don't want to do that to any of the others downstairs do you?
MAYDOSE: (He replied quietly) No, I guess not.
(Kya held out an open hand, and MayDose placed the small glass vile in it.)
KYA: That's the good boy I know.
(The three went down the spiral staircase to the orphanage below, where Kya gave MayDose his medicine before tucking him in and giving him a kiss good night on the forehead. She then took one of the lanterns and made her usual evening rounds of all the children to make sure they were all alright and asleep. Once this was finished she and LeNaia went back upstairs.)
LENAIA: I don't know how you do it sis.
KYA: Do what?
LENAIA: (Pointing back downstairs) All that. I mean you always know what to say, and how to say it."
KYA: Well I don't know about all that.
LENAIA: Oh come on! They actually listen to you. Me, I'm lucky if I can get them into bed at night half the time!
KYA: I just have more experience then you that's all. Besides you are only 14. You shouldn't be so concerned with raising a bunch children at your age.
LENAIA: Someone could have said the same to you when you were 14.
(Kya stopped and looked down at her sister with a somewhat saddened look in her eye.)
LENAIA: (Said in a softer tone) Look sis, I'm no fool. I know you had to give up a lot not just to raise me, but all those kids down there. You never got to do any of the things girls get to do growing up. None of the things I'll get to do because of the personnel sacrifices you made.
KYA: (She said softy) LeNaia, you don't have to...
LENAIA: (She interrupted) No I do sis,. I can't help but feel that you were given the short end of the stick growing up. All your friends got to date, and some have even gotten married. KeyLa is even expecting a child soon. Don't you ever think about having a child of your own some day?
(Kya looked off to the side)
KYA: I never really gave it much thought I guess. I have my hands full with all the orphans that I really don't have time to plan such things. Besides, I would need a man for that.
LENAIA: (She said sheepishly) Not like it would be hard for you to get one.
(Kya raised an eyebrow)
KYA: What do you mean?
LENAIA: (Said with a mischievous grin) Don't play dumb with me big sister, I know you know that ever since you hit puberty every guy in town has had his eyes on you.
KYA: (She said clearly embarrassed) Wha...I don't know what you're talking about?
LENAIA: I mean just look at you. A tight little tummy (pokes at her abs), Those long gorgeous legs (rubs her hands up and down Kya's legs), that perfect round butt (squeezes her butt cheeks) MMMM, not too soft, yet not too hard. The perfect firmness.
(Kya's face starts to turn tomato red)
LENAIA: (Said with a big smile) And let's not forget the real deal makers here. Those gigando boobs!
(LeNaia reaches up under Kya's shirt and squeezes two handfuls) Damn sis, I think I need two hands just to barely cup one of these things.
KYA: (She cried out) EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Get out of there! I swear sometimes you can be so immature!
LENAIA: (Replied calmly) Hey I get it you don't have to explain. If I were you I'd also rather get felt up by some handsome man then by my little sister. Hey I know, how about BoMatsu! I'm sure he could use his hands to make you feel good much better then I ever could. You should pay him a visit tonight!
KYA: (She growled) ARRRG! I swear you are just terrible! I'm going to bed!
(Kya walks upstairs)
LENAIA: (Yelled up after her) Alone?
KYA: (She yelled back angrily) Yes alone!
(LeNaia giggled than skipped off. Kya reached her bedroom door, opened it, and walked in. Once the door closed behind her she leaned up against it with her head slumped down)
KYA: (She thought to herself) Little brat. Why does she always have to be right about these things. I have missed out on a lot haven't I?
(Kya walked behind a thin veil, and began to undress. The clothes seem to just melt off of her body. Scars from various battles she got into with rivals from other towns growing up can be seen on her fair mocha colored skin. She slipped on a white top, and panties, before climbing into a round indented nest like bed.)
KYA: (She whispered to herself) So tired, Think I'll skip the bath tonight. I wish they would understand. It's not that I don't want to fined someone who would love me, it's just that...I don't have the luxury of just dropping everything I have to do hear and go off in search of romance. These kids need me. They've already been left behind by their parents, I'm not about to do the same to them.
(Tears began to well up in her eyes, before finally falling down her cheeks. She quickly lifted her head up surprised by her intense emotional response to what she was thinking and feeling.)
KYA: (She said with a slight laugh as she wiped the tears away) Look at me, getting all worked up to tears about this, What I need now is some sleep. I'm sure I won't care about any of this in the morning.
(Kya laid back and closed her eyes. Before she could pull the covers over herself, she was asleep)
